First Priority Security Guard Training is certified by the California Department of Consumer Affairs – Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) to provide 16 hours of classroom and live-fire training for Security Guards to apply for an Exposed Firearm permit.

Course Fee:  $225 includes first firearm caliber – $20 each additional caliber qualification

Part 1: 8-hour program of education in the Powers of Arrest & Appropriate Use of Force

  • Lesson 1:  Power to Arrest (3 hours course credit)
  • Lesson 2:  Appropriate Use of Force (5 hours course credit)

Part 2: 8-hour program of education in Firearms Training

  • Lesson 1:  Moral and Legal Aspects
  • Lesson 2:  Firearms Nomenclature & Maintenance
  • Lesson 3:  Real Life Scenarios
  • Lesson 4:  Duty to Intercede
  • Lesson 5:  Supervisory Responsibility
  • Lesson 6: De-Escalation & Interpersonal Communication
  • Lesson 7:  Implicit & Explicit Bias
  • Lesson 8: Use of Force
  • Lesson 9: Mental Health
  • Lesson 10:  Active Shooter
  • Lesson 11: Range Training (firearms handling, shooting fundamentals)
  • Lesson 12: Live Fire practice and qualification

The Final Exam for the exposed firearm is closed book and must be completed with a minimum score of 85% (45 of 52 answers)

The Live Fire qualification is a 50 round timed course of fire.  It must be completed with a minimum score of 200 out of a possible 250. Five (5) points are allotted for every hit on a standard B27 target within the center mass (7 ring). (8 hours course credit)
